On February 17, 2021, the Dallas Free Press published an article highlighting the air pollution problem in West Dallas. We would like to share the article to provide some quick background on the issues.
The article identifies the anger over the GAF manufacturing plant’s direct contribution to the poor air quality in West Dallas that has affected many generations of residents without showing interest in improving its practices.
The article describes the efforts of West Dallas 1 neighborhood coalition, Downwinders At Risk, and Legal Aid of Northwest Texas. The recent issue, that sparked the work of Singleton United, is the Operating Permit renewal for the GAF facility.
